How to Host Website on Google Drive?

Now you know the pros and cons of using Google drive for hosting a website. It’s time for you to decide on the kind of website you want to host. If it is a static website let’s jump into the step-by-step guide.

  1. Login to your Google Account and open Google Drive.
  2. Create a folder with the name
  3. Upload your static website to that folder
  4. Now make it public by turning on sharing the link to the public.
  5. Open the website
  6. Click on Host on Google Drive.
  7. Accept all necessary permission to the website.
  8. Now you’ll find all the list of HTML pages on your Drive.
  9. Click on the index.html page located in the folder
  10. Your website is now loading from Google Drive.
  11. To connect that website loaded with your custom domain, copy the URL.
  12. Now login to your Domain name provider.
  13. Change the name servers to self-hosted in my case I am using Namecheap so I select Namecheap basic.
  14. Now go to DNS records and delete all the existing records.
  15. Add a new CNAME record with www and paste the value as URL you copied before.
  16. Delete the https:// and and update the record.
  17. Now add new URL Redirect record with host and value then save the records.
  18. Wait for 2 hrs to fully propagate DNS.

That’s it your website is now live and hosted on Google drive.
